Mal Pais Surf Camp

We stayed at the Surf Camp for over a week in the campground and it was a wonderful stay. Elise was the most supportive host you could imagine, and very relaxed to boot: from helping us find good spots to suggesting which surfboards to rent from her (amazing deal too!), she made our stay a pleasure. The place itself is lovely: tropical paradise with great, clean amenities. I do not know about the other housing options, but the campground had showers, bathrooms, sinks to wash up, and plenty of trees for shade, as well as a great rancho with tables for food and relaxation. Wifi, plenty of plugs, and a great kitchen, our experience was closer to glamping than camping! Overall, Mal Pais Surf Camp is the best spot if you want something (literally 300 meters) close to the beach, with pleasant folk and a great vibe. Maybe bring earplugs for the local Howler monkeys, they are spectacular :)!

The Camp is just the perfect hide out for staying in St. Teresa but avoiding the mad crowds and dusty roads of main street. The whole staff is very friendly and helpful, with Elise hosting you like you are family. I liked it so much I even stayed a couple of days longer after my friends left and Elise gave me a double room for the same price I payed for my 4 bed shared room space. All the facilities get cleaned daily. The Pool is really big and a great alternative if the waves are just too strong on the beach, with the beach just being 3 min away though and it has the most stunning sunsets. I really can't recommend staying here enough!

Very helpful staff, the place is surrounded by nature, you can find plenty of owlers and capuchin monkeys hanging around in the mango trees. You can also see a few iguanas chilling by the pool, they are very well at ease with the humans. The communal kitchen is well equipped and there's a trail just in front of the surf camp to access the beach. Thanks again
