About
A hillside villa property above Mal País with beautiful, newly renovated rooms, forest-and-ocean views, and monkeys and iguanas in the morning trees. The name guests remember is Brandon, who goes well beyond a front-desk role—he's credited with curating experiences, including a candlelit beachfront dinner for one couple's proposal. Rooms come with private or shared pools and strong AC. The access road is steep (a 4x4 helps), and dining is limited on-site, so plan meals around town.

Everything about our stay was perfect. Brandon was more than an employee there, he is a host. He curated some magical experiences for my fiance and I. Actually my fiance proposed while we were here and Brandon helped him find a wonderful private candlelight dinner along the beach with tiki torches. It was so romantic. Our room was turned over every day and it just always felt so fresh. If we didn’t know what to do with our day staying in the room was plenty of entertainment. You have wonderful AC, how showers, a Bluetooth speaker for the room. We had our own private pool but the common area was really nice too. I took my computer there to work and watch tv. There is an ice machine in the common area which was so nice to fill my bottle up each day. Each morning you see monkeys outside in the trees. Iguanas too! This place is magical. The drive to get there is a bit messy with construction and I hope they fix the roads there soon but overall perfect
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel. There were a few positive aspects, but the negative ones left a stronger impression: Positives: +Beautiful view +Newly renovated rooms +Comfortable bed with mosquito net Negatives: –No daily housekeeping, although this was stated in the listing. Because of that, we ended up with an ant problem during the night. –Breakfast only offers three choices, two of which are very plain and repetitive. –The minibar contained only one bottle of water. –No welcome drink or any other beverages available. –No restaurant, even though there’s a great grill setup onsite. –And to top it all off, on our departure date our breakfast was completely forgotten. All we received was a brief “sorry” Additional note: Be aware that I would recommend a 4x4 vehicle — the street leading to the hotel is quite steep. I couldn’t find this information in the Booking description.
This is not a hotel anymore! Self catering. No restaurant or bar. The place has changed from a hotel to a self catering house for rent. Construction work is going on in three places below. Reception closes at 6 pm and the gate to the entrance closes at 10 pm. Small breakfast, three options to choose from. no mosquito nets and no windows everywhere, insects come in. Steep and damaged road up to the hotel. The best thing about the place is Brandon who really tries to help with everything he can to make you happy.
