This hostel deserves five stars, hands down. Out of all the hostels I’ve stayed at, this one has been the best so far. It has such a dreamy, welcoming vibe—no wonder so many volunteers end up wanting to stay longer! To start, it’s a gated property. In my opinion, it’s situated in the central part of Santa Teresa, it’s loud if you’re in the room near the main road, if you want quite, the best room is in the back of the hostel (you have to book it in advance). The setup is unique with several lodge-style homes, most of them women-only, so be ready to meet some wonderful people. The hostel is quite beautiful. I didn’t expect to be surrounded by nature and to see monkeys in the trees. Uky is welcoming, friendly, and really puts you at ease. Thank you for an amazing experience. 💕

I had an amazing time staying at Casa Jaguar all women’s house. The volunteers are so nice and helpful. Great stay with lots of common areas and big dorm rooms. Anyone who would like to meet new people and get a more social vibe should stay at Saltys. Great location as well, close to the beach and restaurants/bars.

I want whatever the people who have given good reviews are smoking , because we paid 65$ a night for a moldy bed in a tiny, dirty room. Where can I even start? It's quite clear that the owner hasn't invested any money into the property ever since the place has been opened, which is quite crazy considering, that the man forces people to pay by cash to avoid paying taxes, has only unpaid volunteers and one poor cleaning lady working for him. This cleaning lady is responsible for the cleanliness of 4 houses and some studios. So you can already guess what the place looks like. The room didn't look anything like in the pictures. Neither did the 'cozy' chill out area, which in reality was deserted space filled with dusty furniture barely holding itself together. Everything is dirty and smelly. There were several times when there wasn't even toilet paper available. We could smell the sewage in our room at all times, and also in the bathroom as well as in the outside patio. The shower is a joke! Looks like the owner didn't want to pay a professional to put it together. Furthermore, the wifi was not working in our room, and kept cutting off in other areas due to power outages. On our last day the power was cut off mid-day and never came on again. From what I was seeing, I'm guessing it's still off. And how did the owner respond to the situation? Nothing. No refund, not even an explanation let alone an apology. We were forced to find a bar to work from, and sleep in a room with no ac, fan, and full of mosquitoes. They also have only one tiny fridge for 8 people to share it with and to make matters worse they have a raccoon problem, so you can't store your food anywhere else either. This meant that we had to bring all the food that didn't fit into the fridge into our already cramped room. Even though this problem could be solved easily by adding doors to the pantry. The absolute chef's kiss is that they are not letting their dogs out of the property so you'll end up seeing more feces than paid labour. 💩
