About
Selva is a resort of design-forward villas up a steep hill above Santa Teresa, where the reward is an ocean view you take in over breakfast on your own balcony, with howler monkeys and birds in the surrounding trees. Villas have outdoor kitchens and lots of private space rather than communal areas. Concierge Fernando is the name everyone returns to — booking excursions to Tortuga Island and Curu, and smoothing airport transfers. A 4x4 or taxis help with the climb.

My wife and I stayed in Villa Ivory in late January for our babymoon and had an amazing time. The climb up to the villa is not for the faint of heart, but the view is absolutely worth it. We especially enjoyed cooking in the outdoor kitchen and having breakfast on the balcony overlooking the ocean. In the mornings you might see howler monkeys, chameleons, and an incredible assortment of birds in the trees surrounding the villa. The service is also top notch all around! There aren't any communal spaces on the resort, but we had a TON of private space to ourselves and the staff was more than happy to help you curate our dream vacation. Fernando was especially great and hooked us up with some excursions to Tortuga Island and the Curu Wildlife Refuge, which were both amazing experiences. We embraced the challenge of walking the beach and the main road to get around town and made the trek up the hill to the resort on most days, but if yo'ure looking for more relaxation, renting a car/ATV or planning for taxi rides is probably the way to go. The town itself has so much to offer in terms of cafés, restaurants, and bars, but it's pretty pricey. Overall we loved our time at Selva and in Santa Teresa! The most difficult part of the trip was dealing with Sansa for our flights to and from Cobano (they are not flexible at all if you have weather related delays but they frequently change their flight times at the last minute). But the concierge at Selva arranged for taxi service to and from the airport, which was smooth as can be. From the time we arrived in Cobano until we were dropped back off at the airport, we were in heaven!
The best place for a proper relaxing break. An absolutely beautiful resort, the design of the villas stand out from anything else, great energy. Stunning architecture, great sunsets/ sunrises. Very relaxing during rain. Stayed during off season and it was absolutely perfect and peaceful, so happy we chose here. The standouts would have to be the location, property design and concierge service. Outstanding was concierge Fernando and his efforts going above and beyond 24/7 to assist. Truly he made the vacation a vacation by helping a lot especially with translation and it was very much appreciated. That’s what sets this place apart. Finally a place to stay great value for money. The staff were all friendly. Look very much forward to returning as soon as is possible. Highly recommend.
Review from a solo traveller 🙋🏻♀️. Studio 54 is stunning. Gorgeous finishes, artwork and views. Most importantly, I feel safe and at home here. Sam, Fernando and the whole team went above and beyond. They even organized an acupuncture session overlooking the jungle - wow. Visit here soon everyone ❤️💫
