Zeneidas Surf Garden

The reviews regarding customer service are legit. There is one staff member who gets overwhelmed easy and is a bit difficult to deal with. Light build, brown hair. She's not bad, and means well, but she's a sharp contrast to everyone else there, who is super nice and on the ball. Still a five star review despite the friction with her, since the location is top notch. There is no better spot to mix it up with other travelers, jump in the ocean, enjoy the sunset, etc. Notes on the surf – Zeneidas is perfectly positioned at the main in Santa Teresa, which has historically been excellent. But the sandbars have changed, as of this writing early February 2026, they're mostly closeouts and expert level barrels. Check the Surfline cam to see for yourself. Playa Carmen 3km south is more open and friendly though. Despite this I will still stay there again and walk the beach to Carmen to surf. Truly wonderful experience there overall.

we (3 people) are total beginners in surfing, so we ask the guy from the surf rental if the conditions are good for beginners. He told us the waves should be perfectly fine for us, so we rented some soft boards. We got into the water and the waves were all over the place and the current was very strong, also there were no other surfers in the water. We surft before in water with great conditions fir beginners, so we could tell the difference. It didn’t made any sense for us to even try surfing there. So we ask if we could bring our boards back and get a refund. After a longer discussion we got half of our money back. The rental guy also told us that it is not his fault that we‘re bad surfers, witch doesn’t make any sense because we told him before we rented that we are indeed bad surfers. In the end it was a waste of money and we just think as someone who has a surfboard rental you should have told us that the conditions are not beginner friendly. The boards were in good conditions though.

Noise from 3-5 am every night from the villa behind us. The window in our room wouldn't close at all (screen only) so we were forced to hear these people talking all night. Manager told me "well you're the only one who has complained" as if that matters. I checked out early but they still charged me 30% of the remaining nights and wouldn't budge when I asked them to waive it given I was checking out due to the noise.
