About
The town stop for a fresh, cold coconut — they machete it open in front of you, carve a little spoon from the shell so you can scoop the flesh after, and charge about two dollars. The batidos get called the best some travelers had in two weeks in Costa Rica, and you can even have rum added to your coconut. Friendly, refreshing, and pure Tortuguero mellow.

Our only place to get a fresh cold coconut in town. Friendly people and it tastes great! They open it in front of you and also make a little spoon out of coconut shell so you could eat it. $2 only.
I got Mango Leche. I wanted something to drink and it was close to my tour group's meeting spot. It was alright because I didn't know there was going to be coconut milk... a friend got Strawberry Leche and it wasn't coconut milk... the menu doesn't say. It's Aqua or Leche. There is no price listed. I wanted the price but they didn't provide it to me. I had trouble communicating the price since the staff didn't speak English. It was such a painful process that I don't remember how much I paid. Two friends barely understood and helped translate the price for me... I could point at the fruit I wanted on the menu. I don't know if they typically help service tour groups that pass by this place. But I would have expected that they would learned number digits and just show it on a calculator or something.
The best batidos I've had during my two week stay in Costa Rica. They're really amazing and fresh! Also recommend stopping by when visiting Tortuguero village. Take your batido or fruit drink along for a stroll through town and just relax and enjoy the mellow vibes here. Pura vida.
