About
Chef Otto's name is in nearly every review, usually next to his plantain gnocchi — an Italian classic rebuilt with a Caribbean lean that more than one visitor ordered again on a return trip days later. Shrimp scampi and El Moreno, shrimp and calamari in basil beurre blanc, are the other repeat orders, after the homemade bread to start. Reviewers describe Otto coming out to talk and adjusting dishes to taste, while the bar — Rollo doubles as server and mixologist — turns out mojitos, blackberry gin and tonics and spicy margaritas. Closed Mondays; Sundays dinner only.

A great visit to this beautiful fusion Italian Resto on the main strip of Dominical. Had the Mojito done so well by the Cuban bartender Julien. We also had the gin tonic, very refreshing 👍Our waiter Javier was very attentive without being too intrusive. Starter was the classic Caesar , a recipe handed down over the years -yummy. Can’t miss the home made bread which butter. Enjoyed the shrimp in French sauce (called Mrs Lee) , and 2 mains-gnocchi & chicken parm. Both excellent and tasty, good size for sharing. Too stuffed for dessert, which can be tiramisu or fried ice cream. We will be back again as there were some other dishes we wanted to try including the Red Snapper.👏🏽 Only miss-bathroom could spruced up 🧐
We have visited Costa Rica 14 times and been to both local sodas and restaurants at fancy resorts, but hands down the best meal we have had here was at Otto’s Kitchen in Dominical. Our server, Rollo, made great drinks, and Otto prepared fantastic entrees. I had gnocchi that was made with plantains and had a Caribbean flair. Very unusual, but excellent. My wife had a more traditional Italian meal — shrimp scampi. She said this was some of the best pasta we have had outside of Italy. Otto was so fun to meet, and the entire staff provided excellent service. I highly recommend this place. Update: We came back for lunch two days later. I ordered the shrimp scampi and my wife ordered El Moreno — pasta with shrimp and calamari. Both were excellent!!
Chef Otto is a bright spirit. We were welcomed into his closed restaurant with open arms like family. He shared his kitchen and local cuisine - food was delicious. Sat with us and talked as friends. A beautiful experience. Thank you so much.
