Johan Chaves birding and nature tours

We had an unforgettable experience with Johan. First, we joined him for a tour in Manuel Antonio National Park, and it was absolutely amazing. His explanations were fascinating, his enthusiasm was contagious, and he got excited with us over every discovery. He searches for wildlife with genuine passion, and his knowledge seems endless. He answered every question with patience and perfect English, and with great sensitivity helped me enjoy watching snakes despite my fear of them. The tour was so wonderful that we immediately knew we needed another one, so we booked a birdwatching tour with him. It was another unforgettable experience, a journey into the world of hundreds of birds. He taught us how to easily use the binoculars to find the birds, and using recordings and a speaker, he called birds that came close to us, identified species from afar just by their calls, and searched for them together with us. He also shared extensive knowledge about different types of plants and the history of Costa Rica. Thanks to his photography expertise, we came back home with beautiful photos of the animals and plants we saw together. At the end of the day, he even made a list of all the birds we spotted so we wouldn’t forget a thing. Our days with him were some of the best moments of our trip to Costa Rica. What a wonderful wildlife tour at Manuel Antonio with Johan. Johan is an amazing guide! He is incredibly knowledgeable and just a fun and upbeat guy. He stands apart from other guides and you can tell a lot of them look up to and respect him. He can answer all your questions and more and will make sure you get the best photos. He was super communicative from the booking to arrival, gave us lots of tips and recommendations and made our experience so easy and enjoyable. On our tour we ran into a young kid who was taking notes and Johan took the time to stop and encourage him and even write him a message in his notebook and you could see by the look on the kid's face that it made an impact on him.
