About
A Montezuma classic where teak-paneled rooms open to balconies and the grounds run down to natural tidal pools in the rocks; reviewers swim them like warm natural tubs. The verandas look over the lawn to the sea, monkeys pass through the trees, and the breakfast (that passion-fruit juice) earns some of the warmest praise, vegetarians included. It sits right by the waterfall trail and a short walk from town. Some road noise.

A few years ago I stayed two nights. The room was beautiful, teak paneled, with a balcony. The grounds beautiful, and the rocks and tidal pools were amazing to swim in and around, like natural hot tubs. If I remember correctly, the owner gave me, a solo traveler, a good deal for a couple nights booked on the spot after some shady stuff went down in Santa Theresa. I was very grateful and really enjoyed the place! 🙂. For the nice rooms, as I remember, I would think this place is one you might want to visit for a special vacation, like a honeymoon. Especially the teak paneled rooms with balconies!!! 😁❤️
Had a beautiful stay here for 3 nights. Wished we could have stopped for more. It was so peaceful and relaxing, the views were incredible. At night the sky was so clear you could see Jupiter! Also you’re only a very short walk to lots of restaurants, souvenir shops and grocery stores. To make our stay even more special my partner actually proposed there in the gardens by the water, as he said it was his favourite spot so far in Costa Rica. Oh and the breakfast was the best I’d had yet as a vegetarian! The staff were lovely. I hope one day we can come back. Laundry is also available cheaply at Hostel Lucy next door for 1000per kg.
We had a wonderful stay in Casa Sol at Amor de Mar. The house is incredible — every detail looks to be crafted by hand with a lot of love and care. The grounds are also gorgeous and wonderfully situated in Montezuma. We ate the hotel’s delicious breakfast every morning (still dreaming about the fresh passion fruit juice), and enjoyed seeing monkeys in the trees on the edge of the property. What a gem of a place!
