About
A humble roadside empanada stand across from the bus stop: easy to drive past, worth stopping for. Potato-and-cheese and queso are the staples at about 1,000 colones each; if you are lucky they will have fish, which regulars swear by with a spoonful of the local hot sauce kept on hand. Filling without being greasy. Grab a couple while you wait for the bus.

Must have driven by this road side stand across from the bus stop 1000's of times. (Think little Johnny's lemonade stand with a roof) Finally stopped and glad we did. Three flavors of empanadas offered and we opted for the potato and cheese. At 1000 colones each you cant go wrong. Go early, make a quick stop, pick up some empanadas you will be glad you did. Pura Empanada Vida.
Excellent Empanadas! I highly suggest grabbing one as you wait for the bus or on your walk. They are filling without being too heavy or greasy. If you are really lucky they will have fish (pescada). With a bit of their hot sauce it is perfect. My son's are huge fans of the queso(queso) and PaPa(potato).
Delicious street empanadas - we had potato and cheese, bothy tasty. Stop here when in Montezuma!
