About
Johnny, the owner, is the name guests keep repeating — he arranges connections and reservations, lends boogie boards, and makes travelers feel like family. Mornings bring a filling breakfast and balcony views over jungle and ocean, with monkeys in the trees. It's a short uphill climb from downtown Montezuma, and regulars swear the pool and the quiet setting are worth every step.

We had a wonderful stay at Luz en el Cielo Eco-B&B/Hostel in Montezuma. Johnny, the owner and host, was incredibly friendly and accommodating throughout our visit. He went above and beyond by helping arrange connections and reservations and by offering thoughtful, personalized suggestions for activities and places to explore around the area. The hotel itself is very well run, clean, and welcoming. We really enjoyed relaxing at the pool and meeting other travelers — many people we spoke with said this was their favorite place they stayed during their trip. Each morning there was a delicious and very filling breakfast, which was the perfect way to start the day before heading out to explore. We also appreciated having access to a shared kitchen and fridge so we could keep some of our own food and beverages on hand. The on-site restaurant was another highlight and we really enjoyed the food there as well. We stayed in the Vista Cabinas, and the view from the balcony was absolutely incredible. Waking up to that scenery each morning was a highlight of our stay. One thing to note is that this location is best suited for guests with full mobility. It’s about a short 200-meter climb up the road from downtown Montezuma to reach the B&B, and there are additional steps to access some of the lodging areas. For us, the views and peaceful setting made it completely worth it. This place truly has it all. We loved our time here and are already planning to return next year.
We rented the bungalow and extended to a week cos we really don't want to leave - it's wonderful. The fans are great so there's no need for aircon at all, great shower, super comfy best, great breakfast and the view...out of this world, and we saw monkeys and squirrels in the trees. And Johnny who runs the place is a total gem, went out of his way to help us with everything and even lent us boogie board. Love everything about this place 😊 Side note - if you come with a shuttle/taxi boat and you have a lot of luggage, ask them to drop you at the hotel as it's up a hill. These services are usually to Montezuma and Santa Teresa, and the Santa Teresa shuttle will drop you there if you ask
I stayed for a night and enjoyed the lovely staff and friendly guests. Joni, the owner, was so helpful and accommodating. A five minute walk had me in town with a market and makers lined up on the street with their art. The room I stayed in was beautiful and had long views of the ocean and was nestled in jungle scape. The glass French doors opened up to a large balcony where I could watch the monkeys play in the trees. I had views from my bed and the first thing I saw when I woke up was the greenery waving in the soft breeze. Clean and tidy and the empanadas were to die for. I’ll be back.
