About
A Middle Eastern-inspired kitchen surrounded by plants and jungle, where owners Rodrigo and Maya host like they are welcoming you home. Reviewers come for brunch and stay for a caramel puff pastry dessert people call worth the visit on its own. There is a big kids' play area that lets parents actually relax, and Chef Maya also runs jungle cooking retreats. Fresh, creative, generous portions.

PUGGOS is a very family-friendly restaurant with a warm, homey, and inviting feel. One of the standout features is the large play area for kids, which makes a huge difference for parents. It gives children a fun place to play while the food is being prepared and allows parents to relax and actually enjoy their meal — something that’s not always easy to find. The space itself is big and open, and it’s clear that families feel comfortable here. Every time we’ve visited, the kids are having a great time, and the overall energy is relaxed and positive. It’s a great spot for breakfast and coffee, especially if you’re starting your day in Santa Teresa with little ones in tow. The atmosphere feels easygoing and welcoming, making it an ideal place for families who want a stress-free dining experience. If you’re traveling with kids or living in the area and looking for a family-friendly restaurant in Santa Teresa with a kids play area, PUGGOS is definitely worth checking out.
Puggos Restaurant is a true hidden middle eastern oasis in Montezuma. We enjoyed a fantastic brunch with great drinks, followed by an absolutely incredible caramel puff pastry dessert that alone is worth the visit. Puggos offers a beautiful, relaxed setting and a Middle Eastern–inspired menu that is not to be missed. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, flavorful, and clearly made with care and passion. They also serve dinner, making it a wonderful spot to return to again and again during your stay in Montezuma. If you’re interested in taking your experience even further, ask about the jungle cooking retreats led by Chef Maya. It is a rare and inspiring opportunity to learn from an exceptionally talented chef in the heart of Costa Rica. Pura Vida to Puggos and Chef Maya a truly special place.
LIVE LOVE LOVE!! If you want to have amazing home cooked food surrounded by beautiful plants and a true jungle vibe, this is your place. The owners are so lovely and really give a family feeling to the whole place. The portions are good sizes and reasonably priced for the area. I have nothing but great things to say about the quality and creativity of their menu.
