Villa del Sol Boutique Hotel

We stayed 3 days at VDS and loved maybe the closest walking distance to one of 2 public beach access points along the main road!! The villa provides beach towels and camping chairs in every room to take to the beach!! It is in a quiet neighborhood about as far away as you can get to the bustle of tourists at the intersection of hwy 151 and the main street of Playa del Coco. You could walk maybe a mile(?) to access that main area for shopping but we are 80 and were glad we had a car. Along that main road, there were grocery stores, restaurants, a pharmacy, so we didn't have to ever access that intersection if we didn't need souvenirs and guides. The premises were gated at night and felt very secure. There were 2 buildings that I noticed. The registration building had rooms without kitchens. There was a large area with tables where guests could enjoy breakfasts for $10. Not sure if other meals were offered? There were also games and books available. Except for one small room on the ground floor, all of the bed rooms were accessed by 2 sets of stairs. At my age, I would not want to be lugging a suitcase up the narrow spiral staircase inside by the registration desk. Fortunately there is another staircase outside that is much more manageable. The other building, where we stayed, offered studios that had a roomy kitchen area that was well equipped with a large refrigerator, a stove and everything one would need to cook a meal plus a table with 2 chairs to eat. 2 chairs outside every door, facing west where guests could enjoy magnificent sunsets. Surprisingly, there were no bugs. We enjoyed playing Canasta outside at night at one of the tables in a covered area at one end of the beautiful lighted pool. The covered area was equipped with a grill that guests used to cook their dinner. There were hammocks strung around the lovely landscaping that many guests took advantage of. Elizabeth who ran the villa was very friendly and we were grateful she could converse in English. Only one little issue we had. The staff took some of our used towels and never replaced them. I respect the policy of reusing the same towels for the 3 days that we were staying there but if they are taken away due to needing washing, please replace the missing items.

Such a pleasant and affordable hidden gem just a 2 minute stroll from the beach. The rooms were clean and spacious, pool area was well maintained and relaxing, and the entire staff was friendly and extremely helpful. We felt safe and really enjoyed breakfast—totally recommend this property!

We had an amazing stay at Villa del Sol in Playa del Coco. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and taken care of. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind — it really made a difference in our experience. The location is perfect — just a quick five-minute walk to the beach, but tucked away enough to feel peaceful and private. The property itself is beautiful, with lush landscaping and such a relaxing atmosphere. You could honestly spend your whole trip just enjoying the grounds. We also really appreciated the laundry service — such a convenient bonus, especially after beach days and adventures. The property felt very private and secure, and it was easy to fully relax there. Whether you’re exploring Playa del Coco or just hanging out onsite, Villa del Sol is a fantastic place to stay. Highly recommend. We’d absolutely come back
