About
A café set inside San José's ornate National Theater, and you don't need a ticket to walk in for a coffee. The draw is the setting — grand, historic, compared to old cafés in Paris or Rome — paired with coffee you can have prepared to order and pastries, especially the carrot cake regulars ask for. Staff are attentive. Come for coffee and a slice rather than a full meal; there's no real kitchen.

This cafe is within the National Theater, its a very classy venue, good service service of staff, the food is good quality and the coffee is great too! There is no need to vist the theater to enter this cafe.
Beautiful café. I had a delicious slice of fig cake (avoiding the frosting) and a hot coffee drink that was supposed to be made with lactose free milk. I became quite ill within less than two hours. Suggest requesting soy, almond or some other non dairy alternative.
When we went to the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Costa Rica concert, we had a light meal in the coffee shop. It is located inside the theater lobby and it is reminiscent of some of the lovely cafes in Paris or Rome. I wouldn't necessarily recommend a meal there, there's no real kitchen, but it's the perfect spot for a coffee and a pastry, especially their famous carrot cake. Life is good in Costa Rica. Pura vida
