About
A grand old house turned lodging in central San José, where guests consistently note feeling safe behind the buzz-in entry and appreciate the affordable private rooms with reliable hot water. The downstairs restaurant draws decent marks and breakfast is simple but tasty. Rooms vary in upkeep, so it reads best as a practical, secure base rather than a polished hotel.

I reserved a room and arrived at 3 p.m. Receptionist guy spent good 10 minutes on computer, checked my passport, and calling someone. Then claimed the advertised price was incorrect and demanded an extra $50 USD. Didn't honor the original booking price. I said no thanks and went on to find another place.
Great hotel, clean rooms , friendly staff, excellent service, family friendly, safe. Good food . I recommend it.
Sorry .. dont usually do bad reviews. Initial staff were very nice. We had a private room , but: the cistern of toilet was broken and leaked all over the floor. The shower literally didnt work it just poured water down the wall. We returned from a walk , and rang the bell to be let in , but the staff member just opened the door and disappeared - we didnt even have time to tell him we had no towels.
