About
A downtown San Jose seafood house where looks deceive - the room is modest, the menu is long, and the cooking is the reason people rave. Octopus done whole-grilled or stir-fried, garlic-butter fish fillet, creamy seafood soup and mixed ceviche all draw praise, and prices land reasonable. There's quieter seating upstairs; staff speak limited English, but the menu is translated.

Looking for sea food, in particularly octopus on our last night in San Jose CR. Found this place and decided to give it a try. Oh my, the food is excellent. In our party, we had whole grilled and chopped stir fried octopus, garlic butter fish filet, creamy sea food soup and a mixed ceviche. Everyone of the dishes was tasty and cooked to perfection. Unlike a previous review, the sea food soup (creams de marisco) was great and had all different kinds of sea food in it. Crab, fish, octopus chunk, clam, shrimp and it was delicious, add the bowl of rice and mix and you have a very hearty meal. The service was fast. We were in and out in under an hour, which is generally not the case in CR for a sit down dinner. Our server was attentive, took our drink and food order efficiently. They only speak limited English, so if you know Spanish, it will definitely help the process. The price is also very reasonable. 8 dishes plus 3 drinks came out to be around 74,000 Colon, which is around $150.
They have seating upstairs if you're looking to get away from the crowd, so we decided to sit there. First thing you will notice is there's a lot of options in the menu here! Our server was very friendly and quick service as well. We tried the Spaghetti with Chicken, Fish fillet, Shrimp with Coconut breading, Blackberry juice and Lemonade. My recommendation to the restaurant would be to offer smaller portions for a cheaper price when there's only a couple dining. Even the small size of the shrimp was too big I feel, could cut down on the portion (or take out its fries and salad) and make it cheaper.
Pretty good seafood rice (the double shrimp is worth it) and the Caribbean mixed seafood plate was delicious. Great service. Very reasonable prices! The atmosphere is modest but give it a chance and you won’t be disappointed
