About
A downtown San Jose bakery-cafe with an open, street-facing terrace made for people-watching over coffee. The pastries are the pull - croissants and cinnamon rolls - alongside sandwiches and fresh-ground coffee, with quick, smiling counter service. The one recurring catch is the pigeons that wander in from the open front, which staff do their best to shoo away.

Great selection of food and the coffee is fresh ground beans as well. The service is excellent as they are very friendly, detailed and very quick too. Just like every bakery in Central America, you go to the counter where all the goodies are and they kindly take your order with a pleasant attitude and pleasant smile. I ordered a Cinnamon sweet roll to go and had a quick bite to eat plus a small Americano coffee. Enjoyed the view of many people walking by and visiting the Granier restaurant too. While I sat and ate my mini-lunch and sipping my hot, tasty coffee also. The only downside is the pestering pigeons - which unfortunately cannot be helped - due to the open terrace and closeness to the pigeon roosting areas, I'm assuming. Some of the staff try to shoo them away which is a nice gesture also. I suppose, just wave them away otherwise...
Lovely bakery in the heart of the city. Lots of options for pastries, cold and hot coffee and sandwiches. Open street facing entrance and our fellow visitor was a beautiful pigeon! Enjoyed our time here and took some pastries to go.
Close to Plaza de la Cultura. Good croissants, poor coffee. Smiley faces of the service staff.
