La Casona Típica

The food was just ok, it IS typical Costa Rican food, but the flavor was just not there. I feel like they took flavor out to fit the American palette. The presentation was great, service was good, the decor was awesome to look at, but the table was very sticky. If you decide to go during the morning/early afternoon I would skip this place and go to the Mercado (market) instead. Better flavor and prices.

Visited with friends from Mexico to try typical dishes. My friend had the Gallo de Lengua and that was awesome. I also really liked the tortilla de maíz. And the pickled veggies and chilis were really tasty. My dish was the Casado de pechuga de pollo. The chicken was good but the beans weren’t so flavorful. The salad and everything seemed very fresh. The serving was generous and after some appetizers I didn’t finish my plate. The atmosphere of the place was great, some of the decorations were onions and plantains and some huge sculptures of people. Our server Roy was helpful and friendly. Overall I liked the place but I was a bit less impressed with the food than I had hoped I would be.

the chifrijos was good! I always run out of chips with these dishes lol
