Phở Yummy

I thought the pho was quite decent. I got the pho res (pho beef) and it was very fragrant. It had the smell of pho. The taste lacked a little bit of depth but it was still hit the pho craving. The beef was too chewy and thick. I think if they sliced it thinner or used a different cut of meat, it would be better. It comes with bean sprouts and some other veggies in the bowl already (not separate). They used a different kind of lime - I think calamansi. We also got take out, but the noodles came cooked, which was not ideal. The meat was in the container too so that made the meat extra cooked.

The food is fresh, but it could be better. The bánh xèo is crunchy, but it uses too much oil and is slightly burnt. The bún nem nướng smells good, but the nem nướng meat is a little salty. This is just my personal taste.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from a Vietnamese restaurant in Costa Rica, but I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the curry noodles with shrimp off the lunch menu, which was discounted from the original price. It came with at least 10-12 medium-sized shrimp, lots of fresh veggies, and a generous portion overall. I also got the pineapple juice with chia seeds, which was really refreshing. The prices are very reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area. Plus, the staff was very friendly. Highly recommend if you’re craving Vietnamese food while in San Jose!
