About
A small stand tucked inside the Mercado Central, and often packed, which is a good sign. The gallo pinto con carne draws praise for tender beef and flavorful rice, and the mondongo arrives on a banana leaf. Large portions, fair prices, and cas juice to wash it down, served by ladies regulars call the friendliest around.

The tastiest meal I’ve had in some time, served by the friendliest ladies
[Visited] Wednesday, November 5, 2025 (evening) [Order/Price (tax included)] ・Gallo pinto con carne / 2,200 CRC (tax included) ・Cas juice / 300 CRC (tax included) [Number of people] 2 [Review] ・The Gallo Pinto's rice is delicious, and the beef is tender. ・The Cas juice seems to be a bit more refreshing than other places.
We were looking for a place to eat in the central market, and this place was packed, which was a good sign since it wasn't lunchtime. They have combo meals with various dishes; I ordered a cas water for my baby, which was delicious. I ordered mondongo, which is a bit more expensive, but it was tasty. I liked that they served it on a banana leaf.
