About
A Mercado Central institution with a line out front for good reason: home-cooked tico food, generous portions, and unbeatable prices. Regulars point straight to the ox tongue and the pork chop, both with fresh natural juices. It's bustling, noisy, and quick, so come ready to eat fast, not to linger, and you'll leave happy.

If you want authentic, delicious food at a great price, this is the place. The portions are generous and everything tasted like a home-cooked meal. The service was friendly and welcoming. It’s a perfect spot for a satisfying and affordable lunch. Highly recommended
Very delicious and authentic food among locals. Busy and noisy place but that actually is the pura vida! Nice beverages! Were integrated among the locals very nicely despite we do neither speak or understand proper Spanish. Gracias for the experience and help!
Showed up for a late lunch to dodge the crowds, and wow, worth it. Service here is no-frills — you won’t get showered with compliments, but you will get food so good you’ll forget your own name. The place has a great local vibe, and if you take just one piece of advice: order the ox tongue.
