UFO Burgers

We stopped by UFO Burgers while staying in the Sabana neighborhood of San José for an extended stretch of medical appointments, and this place immediately jumped to the top of our list for most fun and kitschy spot in the area. We love hunting down off-the-wall places when we travel, and UFO Burgers absolutely delivers on theme. UFOs everywhere, Mars Attacks alien, playful menu names, bold decor, and a vibe that fully commits. You know exactly what you are walking into, and that is part of the fun. First, the burgers. Straight up fantastic. These are legit smash burgers done right. Perfectly smashed, crispy edges, super flavorful patties, and fresh, crisp veggies. Everything about the burger itself was dialed in and honestly five star taste. The bun, the balance, the seasoning, all of it worked. No other notes on the burgers. They nailed it. Now the sides. Specifically, the onion rings. Total letdown. You could tell immediately they were frozen and flash fried, which is not ideal but sometimes passable. Unfortunately, these were not. They lacked flavor and were borderline inedible. We left most of them on the tray, which is saying something. It is especially disappointing because the burgers are so good that the sides feel like a missed opportunity. I am not docking them a whole star over one sad excuse for an intergalactic onion ring, but to ownership, please do better here. You have something really special with the burgers, and better sides would elevate the entire experience. All that said, we will absolutely be back. We are returning to San José in a few weeks and are already excited to try another out of this world burger. Just maybe skipping the sides next time. One of the best if not the best burger I’ve ever had. Restaurant has awesome décor. The staff and owner a super friendly. 100/10.

So far the best burger place on the estern Sabana side. Plenty of parking options nearby, though you may need to walk a block or two, the locale itself has 2 free parking lots. The atmosphere is beautiful with a lot of care put into the thematic decorations, and the place is clean. Service has been excellent every time and the burgers come out fairly quickly. The UFO burgers are a fun new experience and much easier to eat on the go. The classic burgers are an amazing bang for the buck, juicy, flavorful, fresh and fairly priced.
