Ballena Jorobada Tour

Wow. What an experience. Went out with a smaller group and saw all the sites. From a mother whale and her calf, to a pod of dolphins and everything in between. Tour operator was super nice and included free parking. The pineapple they served on the tour was the best I ever had. They even let us park there for an extra couple hours so we could explore the park. Great fun and happy to support this amazing family.

Simply superb. A warm welcome with fruit, cookies and the best coffee we have had in Costa Rica, then after a briefing off to the whale tail to snorkel before catching up with a bull run of competing whales. At all times we kept a respectful distance but had great positioning. Following whale watching guidance we left the group to it and headed to a beach to explore a cave and water fall. The whole trip was interesting, well run and incredibly professional and felt far from a tourist trap money making exercise. We have whale watched in Canada, Baja and other places and this was right up there as time on the water!

Our family did the 3 hour whale and dolphin watching tour in February 2026. We had the best time! We saw sting rays, dolphins, and whales! We visited a secluded beach and had time to snorkel. The ocean currents prevented us from seeing much while snorkeling, but it was so much fun to jump off the boat and swim around in the warm water. This time of year, there were humpbacks from up north that travel to Uvita to give birth. Because the babies have to come up for air more frequently than adults, it seems like there is a good chance of finding whales - at least in February!
