COSTA RICA DIVE AND SURF | PADI 5 STAR | Scuba and Snorkeling

What an AMAZING experience. Was able to see manta rays, lots of small sharks 🦈, tons of different fish 🐠🐟, coral 🪸 and fans, and experience 2 separate dive sites for 45min. You should definitely visit this ecological park if you have the chance. There is an option to have a private dive guide and photographer if you prefer. Take this option! FI was excellent and took incredible photos of me and the marine life. Mauricio welcomed me to the shop and made me feel welcome and taken care of in spite of my nerves about the big group. Captain Jefferson and Sailor Carlos were excellent aboard the boat and got us there and back to Cano Island safely in record time, pretty much under an hour both times. The guides handled all the equipment expertly and left us to enjoy the dive. I have been diving since 2000 and I still appreciate the tanks and technical aspects being managed by someone else so I can enjoy the dive. The dive center has lockers, bathrooms and showers. They also offer snacks: tea, fruit, juice, pastry before the dive at the shop (come around 645a vs. 7a), and water, juice, fruit and other snacks (we got burritos) while on board the boat. Everything sustainable- no disposable plastic. Reusable mugs, cups, containers and bottles all labeled with our names. We left for the boats at 8a and we were at the island by 930a or so. You will be heading back to shore around 1230p or so. It's a short day that leaves time to do other things. We were back and finished at the dive shop by 145/2p. NOTE: The tanks are just filled at 3000 psi. If you tend to suck down air quickly or are an inexperienced diver, you will have a shorter dive time than 45-50min. NOTE: You need to make sure to request private guide or tours if this is what you are expecting. Google quotes a price for private dives that doesn't always match what various dive centers offer.

Experience was amazing. Our guide Guillermo was very sweet. He pointed out the animals and also helped you take videos. We saw turtles, whitetip reef sharks and a lot of fish including pufferfish. We had to get there by 7, however, we only departed more than half an hour later. That was a bit frustrating as they didn't seem quite ready yet and I feel like 15 min max would have been enough to find flippers etc. They gave us coffee/tea and bananas/banana bread for brekkie. Very nice. The boat ride was nice too, we spotted some turtles on the way. We snorkelled at two sites and had a little break in between. It was definitely a nice snorkel but if you've snorkeled in other places already it might be a bit underwhelming. They had boxes with fresh fruit, water bottles, lemonade and a burrito for everyone. Everything was packaged in reusable containers so I loved that and it was very well prepared. You're also given life wests during the snorkel which is good if you're not a confident swimmer. After the snorkels we had spare time and they took us whale watching which was amazing for them to go the extra mile! After the trip you can enjoy the National Park as it's included in the trip. So all in all very nice and worth the money even if pretty costly.
