About
A family-run soda in Uvita, tucked off the main road beside a covered soccer pitch that keeps it shaded and cool. The family prepares and serves every plate themselves — hearty casados, gallo pinto breakfasts, salchipapas, even a thin-crust pizza — with fresh juices by the carafe in flavors like strawberry and mora. Generous portions, gentle prices, and the kind of welcome that has people coming back a second time.

This is a beautiful, little authentic ‘soda restaurant ‘, with a lovely family vibe. It is situated near the main road, but is off the road, beside an undercover soccer pitch. This means it is naturally cooled, and perfect for shade when the sun is overhead, as well as when it is raining heavily outside. We enjoyed a delicious pizza lunch here today, and also tried gallo pinto breakfast with eggs. After several weeks on the road eating traditional foods, in Costa Rica, it was nice to have a good pepperoni pizza with thin base (just like they make it in Rome). At the same time, the gallo pinto was delicious, as were the juices - strawberry, mora (blackberry), and banana, which came in a 500ml carafe. Actually, this was the second time we came here - we also came a week ago for dinner and had some traditional Costa Rican casados then - fish, pork and chicken asados and also a salchipapas (sausages and chips). This was one of our favourite soda restaurants during our trip here and I’m sure you’ll love it too.
Came here for dinner because it was well regarded and we were proven right. We had casados and a salchipapas which were all great. The meat portions were great, the salad was fresh, the beans were tasty - overall the Casados were great. They also came with the fresco of the day, making it the complete meal! We were also offered ice cream for dessert which was delicious. And when we offered to pay them a bit of a tip, they insisted on giving us a special Christmas cake. Overall a wonderful dining experience with good social sport to watch, I highly recommend this spot and will be sure to return if I am ever in Uvita again! Just a note to tourists like me: if you come along and the single door facing you is closed, walk down to the double roller doors and see if they’re open. If they are, you’re good to go!
