A family-run soda set back from the main road in Uvita, calm and welcoming, serving Costa Rican home cooking made with care. The arroz con pollo draws the loudest praise — one traveler's best in the country — with arroz con camarones and a flaky garlic fish close behind, plus papaya and passionfruit batidos. As is the local way, the food takes its time; it's worth the wait.

Soda Ranchito Doña Maria had been recommended to us and it lived up to its recommendation! We ordered Arroz con Pollo and Arroz con Camarones and both were delicious! It was one of the best Arroz con Pollos I have eaten in Costa Rica. We also ordered Papaya, Pineapple and Passionfruit batidos. Everyone finished their smoothies and agreed they were our favorites to date. The restaurant is situated off the main road, creating a calm and enjoyable atmosphere. The service was also thoughtful and accommodating! Overall, we wholeheartedly recommend making time to stop and eat here!
Amazing food and atmosphere. Perfect Pura Vida vibe. Like most restaurants in Costa Rica, don’t expect your food to come out quickly. But it’s worth the wait! I had the garlic fish and it was flaky and tasty!
This was super good! Our first meal of the trip and we were super impressed! The service was wonderful, the restaurant is peaceful and quaint. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in Uvita!
