Uvita Night Tours

Our family of five did the Uvita Night Tour at Oxygen Jungle Villas grounds with Shabby and Chico in March 2026, and it was absolutely incredible. Out of the 10 days we spent exploring Costa Rica, I think this was my 10-year-old daughter's favorite experience of the entire trip! We saw so many fascinating creatures, including countless frogs, insects, and even a scorpion glowing under UV light. The tour was both exciting and educational, and our children (ages 5, 10, and 11) were engaged the entire time. Shabby and Chico were outstanding guides—knowledgeable, patient, kind, and wonderful with children. They shared so much information about the local wildlife and made the experience fun for the whole family. I jokingly told Shabby that I was going to take credit for all of the amazing photos we brought home, but that wouldn't be in the spirit of Pura Vida! The incredible pictures you'll see were all thanks to his photography skills. Those photos will be treasured memories for our family for years to come. Mike and Andrea helped make this night tour a wonderful experience. My boyfriend and I love nature and were excited to see how the wildlife differed from day to night. Both of our guides were amazing at spotting creatures , they were also very knowledgeable. We learned a lot and saw some things we’d never thought we would see in the wild ! We also came away with some amazing pictures thanks to Mike and Andrea, they knew just how to get the right light and angle while still keeping the group and the animals safe. Our group of 4 spent 10 days in Costa Rica and we all agreed the Uvita Night Tour took top honours as the highlight of the trip! We connected with the tour operator via the WhatsApp number found on their website. We were staying in the area but without a rental vehicle. Edward graciously arranged a driver to pick us up at 5:30 pm at a restaurant in Uvita and then return us to our resort at the end of the tour. Our tour guides for the evening, Daniel and Andres, provided us with rubber boots and flashlights. For the next 2 hours, we were amazed by the nocturnal wildlife they discovered along the trails through the rainforest and along the river. We saw a massive tarantula, Emerald Glass Frog, gecko, Wandering Spider, Halloween Snake, Bullfrog and more! The highlight was seeing how excited the guides were when we witnessed a Wandering Spider, the size of one’s palm, leap from a post and attack a cicada that was flying in its orbit. It was incredible. The guides were so excited as they said they had never seen anything like that before. If you’re looking for something unique, informative and exciting provided by incredibly knowledgeable guides, this is the tour for you!!
