Nearly every review comes back to Leandro, a surf instructor praised for prepping beginners on the sand before they hit the water and getting first-timers — teens especially — standing up on their first waves. Lessons come with fresh pineapple and coconut-water breaks, a good beach spot, and a stream of local tips; one group even spotted macaws and a monkey next to the beach. Patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student.

Great experience!! Leandro was a great teacher! He also showed us 7 Macaws in the tree next to a Monkey!! Surfing lessons were great. An amazing day, highly recommend!!!
We had a brilliant time on this lesson. Leandro was a great instructor and provided us with everything we needed including cold water and fresh pineapple. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a Uvita surf experience!
Leandro Solis is fantastic! Our teenage sons took their first surfing lessons with him. His instruction and prep was top notch. We were impressed with the way he gave them a feel for balancing on the board before entering the water. We watched as they both successfully surfed and LOVED it. We were sorry we didn’t have time for more lessons with him. Great beach location, great fresh pineapple snacks and an absolutely great instructor and guy! I definitely recommend Leandro!
