About
An ecolodge set above the bay, a bit removed from the center of Drake Bay, with cabins whose views reviewers call unbeatable — macaws, parrots, and hummingbirds pass the balconies daily. The food draws repeated raves, and complimentary fresh juice and laundry service come up often; guests also praise how smoothly the staff coordinate tour pickups. Know before you book: reaching the rooms means a steep climb, roughly four flights of stairs over a gravel path, and parking sits down by the beach. There is no air conditioning — fans are strong — and the open-air jungle bathrooms let in some moths at night. A few reviewers found service and pre-arrival communication inconsistent.

There are some serious things you should consider before booking this hotel. 1. There are no ac or heat pumps, and at night the weather can get very stifling. The only thing you have is a fan, and the patio doors don't have a screen, so it is difficult to keep closed at night 2. The bathrooms are not fully enclosed and exposed to the outside so you have a nice view of the forest/ocean, but bugs do come in at night 3. From the restaurant/ town entrance to the room it is a pretty long walk up and down, at least 5 minutes going straight up 4. Communication and coordination with staff was not great. I tried communicating them with e-mail prior to arrival, and they would inconsistently reply. Then later on their Whatsapp, they had difficulties providing clear instructions on basic things like taxi departures to the airport 5. There is no generator if power goes out like other hotels 6. Views are quite nice though, and the restaurant dinner with Lily is quite good. 7. Location is good for playa jinetes tours/pick-ups
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights. The room was beautiful with an unbeatable view - completely worth the hike up to the room (maybe the equivalent of 4 flights of stairs over a gravel path). We could see the bay from our balcony and lots of rainforest. Macaws, parrots, hummingbirds, and many other birds flew by our window every day. We also were the only two staying at the place during our visit, so we truly had the place to ourselves. The staff really made us feel like home - we had complimentary fresh fruit juice and laundry service, and anything we needed the staff was happy to provide. It was such a nice getaway after our 3-day stay in Corcovado National Park. We will be coming back!
We were so sad to leave. The staff were all friendly and extremely helpful. We booked our tours through the property and each one was better than the next. Not only that, but they were very conscious of coordinating times and locations for pick-up. It was so stress free! The property is beautiful. The room is comfortable and has spectacular views. I slept so well listening to the jungle that I honestly miss that room. It is a little bit of a hike up to the rooms but I honestly kind of enjoyed that aspect. And, it isn't in the middle of the town so you feel like you have your own little piece of Drake Bay. I've seen a few people here rave about the food. They are 1000% correct. We were laughing about how much we looked forward to dinner everyday. Not only was the food spectacular, but she was so friendly as well. I worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade and I was blown away at the quality of the meals. I am so glad we stayed here. This was by far one my favorite vacations.
