About
A waterfall outside Drake Bay that reviewers call one of the area's most beautiful, with a scenic river and swimming pools and plenty of wildlife along the way. There's a charge of about ten dollars per person. The easiest access is by horseback along the river; hikers can go up via the river and return on the land trail. Fair warning from a recent visitor: the horses can churn the last 400 meters of trail into deep mud that swallows shoes, with no alternate route through the dense vegetation.

Most beautiful waterfall in Drake Bay. One of the best waterfalls in Costa Rica. River access by horseback riding is the easiest way to access the waterfall.
Very majestic waterfall! Worth the hike. The river and pools were beautiful. Saw tons of wildlife. Top excursion to do in Drake Bay!
Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the waterfall because the last 400 meters of the trail had been turned into a quagmire by the horses. We sank up to our calves in the mud. With every step, it almost pulled our shoes off. Due to the dense vegetation, there's no alternative route. You can't even wade through the river for the last stretch. The hike itself—we went there through the river and back via the land trail—is very beautiful. However, I don't know what the $10 per person charge is for.
