Drake Bay Wilderness Resort

We spent 3 nights here at a the start of a 2 week tour of Costa Rica. You arrive by boat to.a private dock so expect to be isolated, although you can go out for walks to a local beach /into the town. We had a great room on its own, high up with fantastic views of the bay. The room was comfortable but rustic, we were more than happy as air con worked well and there is a fridge. The food is included but needs to be pre ordered for dinner. We found the choices good and the meals tasty & well cooked. We did the tours to Corcovado National Park and Cano Island from here, both by boat and amazing. The staff are friendly as other reviews have pointed out, I think the culture here is relaxed and chilled so you might not get told everything you think you need to know but you can ask. All transfers are written on the white board by reception, we went by boat to Sierpe down the river and it all worked beautifully. A torch is helpful and we had eye masks as there are shutters on the rooms( some not working) and a very bright light on the aircon unit. Great start to our holiday 😊

We went to Drake Bay Wilderness Resort the second week in December, 2025. It was an awesome trip thanks to the wonderful staff at the resort! They were so attentive from the moment we arrived until we left. They helped us decide what excursions we might like. They loaned me their personal hiking poles, and allowed me to extend my checkout till my afternoon flight. One of the staff noticed my very muddy shoes, and knew I was leaving in less then 2 hours, so they promptly cleaned my shoes making my trip all the way back to Alaska that more pleasant. The entire staff was so accommodating for our entire stay, and very reasonably price. The price is all inclusive with food and excurisions. Top notch - I highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay here, it was our idea of paradise! We spent our days enjoying the delicious meals, reading our books in the hammocks, swimming in the saltwater pool or watching the crabs in the tidal pool, walking to town or Cocadito Beach, bird watching...plus a daily excursion. We saw so much wildlife in the NP as well as sea life snorkeling off Caño Island. What makes this resort stand out from all others are the staff, they are personable and go out of their way to make sure you are always smiling 😃
