Las Caletas Lodge

Las Caletas is the place to book in Drake if you’re searching for a peaceful stay. A short scenic boat ride drops you off directly on the beach, where the lodge is beautifully immersed between the jungle and the ocean. The atmosphere here is so special — falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of wildlife and the waves. We loved starting the day with an early swim just steps away from the lodge on the serene beach. The location is also perfect for exploring the nearby trails, where wildlife encounters are guaranteed. The staff were wonderful, the food amazing, and the entire experience felt authentic and deeply connected to nature. We only wish we could have stayed longer and can’t wait to return.

Las Caletas Lodge in Drake Bay is truly something special. The natural beauty is unreal—tucked into the jungle with incredible ocean views, it feels remote in the best possible way. Everywhere you turn, there’s something to take in, whether it’s the lush surroundings or the peaceful sounds of nature. The wildlife was a huge highlight for us. We saw so many animals right on and around the property, which made the whole experience feel like an adventure without ever having to leave. It’s the kind of place where you slow down and really take it all in. The food deserves its own mention—it was outstanding. Every meal felt fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and way beyond what you’d expect in such a remote location. What really stood out, though, was the service—especially Emily. She was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our stay and went out of her way to make sure our kids were taken care of. She made sure their food needs were met without any hassle, which made a big difference for us as parents. Overall, Las Caletas Lodge delivered an unforgettable experience. Between the stunning setting, the wildlife, the amazing food, and the genuinely caring staff, it’s a place we’d highly recommend to anyone looking for something unique and memorable.

My fiancé and I could not have had a more amazing time in Costa Rica than during our trip in December over Christmas week where we stayed at Las Caletas Lodge. Truly the trip of a lifetime! From the very beginning the hostess Emily and the owner Jolanda were the most accommodating. They had helped arrange our transportation by bus and by boat to the lodge. The food at the lodge was was incredible, with delicious and beautifully presented breakfasts and dinners arranged by a wonderful inhouse chef. During the days they guided us in recommending various tours to sign up for (we had to do this several weeks in advance which they helped with tremendously), as well as various eating spots and beaches to visit on our own on independent hikes when we didn't have a tour scheduled for the day. The location was so perfect - being able to walk to the beach or other restaurants and getting picked up right there for any tours by boat. The lodging we stayed at was beautiful, it felt like we were right in the rainforest. It never felt too hot or too cold at night time. Every time we had a question they were very accommodating. All in all I couldn't recommend a better place to stay for our Cosa Rican trip and we can't wait to return!
