A beachfront hostel at Playa San Josecito tied to a sea turtle conservation project — guests speak warmly about the owners and "the beautiful things they do saving the turtles." Cabins are basic, with cold-water showers, but the setting does the work: a quiet beach out front, some of reviewers' best Costa Rica sunsets, and monkeys, coatis, lizards, and birds all around. Food is fresh, simply prepared, and repeatedly praised. Ricardo runs environment-focused excursions, including a fun, informative kayak tour on the Río Claro, and staff arrange boat pickups right from the beach for Sirena and Isla del Caño trips. One long-term guest sums up the vibe: perfect for a retreat, not for a party. Reachable on foot along the coast from Drake.

What a great experience staying at the end one week at this hostel. Very welcoming stuff, clean and good food! They are helping with organizing trips and gave me a good recommendation for a very beautiful hike just starting at the hostel. Also the Kayak tour at Rio Claro was very fun and informative with Ricardo who really cares about the environment! It was also no problem to get picked up directly at Play San Josecito for the tours to Sierena and Isla del Caño. I had some of my best sunsets in Costa Rica right at the beach in front of LifeforLife. As it is very quiet around I saw a lot of monkeys, birds, lizards and coatis. Thanks a lot for making my stay at Penisula Osa very unique.
Pure joy, I recommend traveling the coast from Drake on foot to get there! A paradise. At accommodation, you can also order your boat for Corcovado National Park, which I also recommend. Consumption on site, small stores a few kilometers inland for the most motivated
Super beautiful and peaceful place, full of animals and right on the beach. I love the owners, treatment, the beautiful things they do saving the turtles. Food was also amazing. Not many people, perfect for a retreat. The place is amazing. Ricardo also offers excursions, different for all the comercial ones and sometimes private. So more attention and humanity.. You are not just a tourist. I wish i can stay here much more time. Highly recommend but not if you want to party.. 😊
