About
A small family-run boutique hotel on a hilltop above Drake Bay — five or so private villas with panoramic views over jungle and ocean, and iguanas, monkeys and hummingbirds that come to you. The family handles the logistics that make this remote corner easy: airport transfers, every tour arranged (there's a bird walk on site), early breakfasts before excursions. Guests single out the food as the best of a long Costa Rica trip, eaten on a terrace over the trees. A five-minute walk down reaches a near-empty beach.

We loved it here. Mary and her son Yoseph ensured we were incredibly well looked after. The setting is so very tranquil with the stunning elevated position over Drake Bay. The cabin rooms are compact but beautifully done - comfortable bed, air con, a lovely shower - and that hammock to chill in while listening to the jungle and watching the sunset. We had one quiet day which we enjoyed lounging round the pool reading and watching the resident pair of iguanas popping up to check us out. But we also enjoyed a night walk in the jungle with Roy (who was more animated about frogs and spiders than any other person we've met!), a fabulous trip out to Cano Island snorkelling under the expert guidance of Kendall and thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the wildlife in the Corcovado National Park from our super guide Bolly. The chef at Natural Drake Bay was excellent and we enjoyed delicious food, as well as appreciating the afternoon tea and snack. Meal tweaks to accommodate timings and the odd dietary issue were very much appreciated. Having breakfast overlooking the bay whilst watching the hummingbirds was magical. Mary met us with chilled drinks and cool flannels after hot days out, and having been so spoilt we were reluctant to leave for the next leg of our trip. All the staff there were brilliant - the guys who transported us about and the lovely lady who made fabulous coffees to the housekeeping ladies who kept the rooms so beautifully. Thank you all. We would love to return one day. Yoseph - please make sure you check the pond for caymans before swimming!!
Highly recommend this resort to anyone wanting to connect with nature and disconnect from their busy life. We came here for our honeymoon and this incredible family owned resort exceeded our expectations. The owner Patricia and her son Jeff were so warm and welcoming. They picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, arranged our tours for us (including an incredible bird tour onsite), and arranged for shuttles everywhere we went. From the moment we stepped foot onto the stunning lush green property, we knew we had made the right choice for accommodation. The whole resort looks like a post card. From the private secluded beach, to the tall lookout tower where we watched the sunset, to the incredible jungle that surrounds the resort, to the jaw dropping lookout spot from the restaurant, we truly felt connected to Mother Earth. We woke up each morning to the beautiful sounds of jungle birds right outside our patio and it was like nothing we have ever experienced before. There were no tv’s or wifi in our room which definitely enhanced the experience and made us more present. If there had been, we may not have noticed the 8 toucans that flew into a tree outside our room, the beautiful blue heron in the lake, or the countless hummingbirds visiting a small flowering plant near our patio. The waiters, Joiner and Victor were so friendly and hospitable and always made sure that every meal was perfect. We’re both vegan and the chefs were able to accommodate us with the most incredible tasting food. This was definitely one of our most memorable vacations to date, thank you for making our honeymoon so special!
A magical place with staff who take care of everything This small-scale resort (five private villas) is set by the sea and surrounded by beautiful vegetation, where monkeys, hummingbirds and other birds can be seen. A five-minute walk downhill leads to a stunning, almost deserted beach. Our detached villa was beautiful, immaculately clean, and had a terrace with lovely sea views. The restaurant serves breakfast (even as early as 5 a.m. for early excursions), lunch and dinner, all enjoyed on a terrace overlooking the ocean. The swimming pool with comfortable sun loungers is a wonderful place to relax. What truly sets this place apart is the staff, with Mary at the heart of it. They organise all tours, offer thoughtful suggestions beyond the standard options, and are exceptionally hospitable and professional. Thanks to them, our stay felt not just like time spent at a lovely resort, but a truly magical and deeply relaxing experience—full of wonderful excursions and completely free from the stress of having to organise anything ourselves.
