About
A river-meets-ocean swimming spot near Rincón de San Josecito that reviewers describe with real affection: crystal-clear water, plenty of shade, and pools refreshing enough to spend a whole day in. The hike along the coast to get there is repeatedly called worth it in its own right. There's a turtle sanctuary on site — one visitor thanked a guide named Ricardo for his explanations — and at high tide a small boat ferries you across the river for a couple of dollars per person. Water shoes help but aren't essential, and the soda at Las Caletas beach nearby gets its own recommendation.

Pristine gorgeous river area perfect to spend the day or longer. Clear water, great swimming and lots of shade. Well worth the hike to get there.
A magnificent place, a turtle sanctuary worth discovering (thanks Ricardo for the explanations), and a very refreshing swim in the Rio Claro which flows into the ocean. Water shoes are a plus, but you can manage without them. The hike along the coast is a must. The soda at Las Caletas beach is worth the trip.
Crystal clear water! A truly special place! Crossing by small boat at high tide ($2 per person)
