About
This bar and grill by the beach at San Josecito, next to the Life for Life hostel and its turtle conservation project, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with beer, wine, and cocktails. Reviewers rave about the fish casado with perfectly fried plantains, and several call the breakfast the best of their Costa Rica trip — some make the twenty-minute walk from nearby lodges just for it. Prices run higher than average, but it is the only restaurant in the area. Hammocks invite a rest after lunch, and guests have even been shown baby turtles. Two honest tips from reviewers: skip the smoothies, and expect some polite tour upselling while you eat.

The food was really good - had the best breakfast during my stay in Costa Rica. Definitely worth the 20 mins walk from Kinkajoungalow.
We came here while at the beach and were honestly a little apprehensive because of some of the reviews we had read. But our experience ended up being fantastic. Our server was attentive and welcoming, and both the food and drinks exceeded our expectations. We were expecting something more average based on what we had seen online, but we were completely blown away by the quality and overall experience. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but it is also the only restaurant in the area, so that is to be expected. That said, we felt the portions and quality absolutely justified the price. For us, this was a true five star experience, and we are so glad we gave it a chance.
Had the Fish Casado and it was very good. The fried plantains were perfect. The smoothie was awful so stay away from those. There is also a lot of upselling to do tours while you are eating but after a couple of “no” answers they did stop. So enjoy your meal with a beer or water!
