Hotel Liberia

You may be surprised when you discover the charm of Hotel Liberia. Very friendly host and hostess who have been working for a couple of years on turning this quaint spot into a very pleasant hotel. Rooms are small but this is in an historic area of Liberia. Lots of space outside for sitting. We have ordered the breakfast and all reviews say it amazing. We will see. We like that it's in a cultural area not swamped by tourists. You can eat at a restaurant here and feel you are in a foreign country, not like the CR beach towns. This seems to be a quiet and safe area of Liberia.

Our hosts were gracious and very helpful. Edwin speaks excellent English and was very welcoming. He recommended an great place to eat nearby and we were not disappointed. Rooms are small but clean, with A/C. There is a very pleasant courtyard to sit and enjoy the weather and the company.

The only good thing I can say is that the host was nice and pointed us to some great food in the area. But there's no way this hotel is a 3 star hotel. It is a one star at best. Rooms are incredibly bare and super small. The bathroom is smaller than my dog's crate. The bathroom has no hot water .. not even in the shower plus the shower head was broken. The beds are rough and not good. They only give a single sheet and one pillow .. no blankets. WiFi doesn't work in the room itself. No TV. The curtains were basically see through and did nothing for privacy or to keep the light out. One of the worst sleeps ever and easily the worst hotel room I've had in 30+ years.
