About
A thoroughly local Liberia soda a few blocks off the touristy crossing, where ticos come and go over casados, gallos, and pinto. Reviewers love the option to order full or medium portions, the crispy fried fish filet, and natural refrescos with free refills. Air-conditioned, a few parking spots out front, quick and friendly.

We love finding hidden gems and authentic Costa Rican sodas and Soda Don Lelo was a great find in Liberia. Just a few blocks away from the more trendy and tourist catering restaurants at the crossing, this soda is 100% local flavor. The service was especially quick and friendly with a quick smile, after a few Spanish words were exchanged. 😀 The menu includes typical casados, gallo, and pinto options with a large variety of protein choices. My favorite part was the option to order full or medium portions. Anyone who has had enjoyed a CR casado knows it's usually tons of food... so the medium portion was perfect, and still included all the good stuff. Rice, beans, salad, platanos, and the best fried fish filet I ate in 5 weeks in Costa Rica. Crispy, perfectly cooked and flavorful. The atmosphere was our favorite typico, lots of coming and going of local ticos and ticas, laughter, the local news on TV and a belly full of casado. Muy Bueno!
As every soda-style eatery in Costa Rica, the place serves local food. And taste & quality were fantastic. Very affordable prices.
So delicious, well priced, and with parking spots. We wish we found this place earlier in our trip.
