About
A conservation nonprofit running guided tours of its own nature reserve near Puerto Jiménez, with well-laid-out trails and multiple viewpoints for birds, flowers, and wildlife. Visitors consistently single out the guides by name — Jim, an entomologist praised for his contagious enthusiasm, plus Freiser, Katherine, and Eddie — and describe the visits as personal and immersive rather than crowded. Both day and night tours are offered, and the foundation also guides trips to Corcovado's La Sirena sector and the Rio Nuevo reserve, where families have spotted three kinds of monkeys and plenty of colorful birds and insects. Tour fees support their rainforest-protection work. Open daily from noon to 6 PM; good for kids.

Immersive Eco Experience at Biosur Foundation – A Hidden Gem in Puerto Jiménez, CR Our visit to the Biosur Foundation Nature Reserve was an unforgettable and inspiring experience. The tour, led by Jim Córdoba Alfaro, was a highlight of our time in the Osa Peninsula. Jim is a truly exceptional guide—friendly, deeply knowledgeable, and passionately committed to protecting the region’s extraordinary biodiversity. His enthusiasm for conservation was contagious, making it easy to connect with the organization’s mission and appreciate the legacy he’s building. The reserve itself is beautifully laid out, with thoughtfully designed trails and multiple viewpoints perfect for observing both wildlife and plant life. We were amazed at the incredible variety of birds and flowers, each more stunning than the last. The experience felt personal and authentic—immersive in a way that many larger reserves rarely achieve. If you’re visiting Puerto Jiménez, make reservations for a tour at Biosur Foundation. You’ll enjoy a beautiful area, learn from one of Costa Rica’s most passionate naturalists, and support vital conservation efforts. Honestly, it may even surpass some of the larger, more famous reserves nearby.
Amazing private tour. Jim was very informative. The reserve is responsibly stewarded. They are doing impressive work in this fragile ecosystem. Highly recommend the tour and also supporting the Bio Sur Foundation to help them preserve more rainforest.
Did two tours (a day and a night tour) with BioSur. Freiser and Katherine were our guides and they were both absolutely fantastic. Incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The reserve itself has incredible wildlife and BioSurs work to protect more of the Osa is worth your support. Don't hesitate to book.
