We loved our stay here! Iguana lodge is the best. We wanted to stay somewhere quiet and secluded, where we could see lots of animals, and where we could enjoy a world class beach. Iguana lodge had all of those things plus amazing food, attentive & friendly staff, and clean, comfortable rooms. The beach is sandy and goes on and on for miles. We saw 20+ different kinds of fish snorkeling in the bay plus sea turtles! We enjoyed all the restaurants we went to but the Pearl has the best food around. Thank you to Mardi, Andrés, Alphonso, Cristian & everyone else who works so hard to make this place an incredible place to stay!

Stayed for 2 nights and had an absolutely amazing nature experience, combined with great facilities and extraordinary service. The food was very good. More than anything, the host and owner, Laurene did so much to make sure I enjoy my time, reserve the right tours and see the right places. She is the perfect host !

What a cool resort. My family and I really enjoyed our time here. We ate one meal at a competing resort that was about $1000 a night more expensive than Iguana and our kids couldn't wait to leave the expensive resort so they could come back to Iguana to play in the pool and in the bay. The boogie boards were a hit as was the tennis court, the amazing food, and incredibly abundant wildlife. We saw more howler monkeys and macaws here than all the other places we visited during the rest of our trip in Costa Rica combined. One day a group of howlers set up camp in the big tree over the pool where our kids were playing so we got to howler show while the kids played. So cool. The howlers also hung around all night, and I was less excited about their noise level while I was trying to sleep, but it's hard to complain about asking for wildlife and then getting wildlife. That only happened one night. If that's a concern, opt for one of the rooms with glass windows (our room had screens instead). If we go back, I'll get the same screen-only windows though as it makes the nature experience much more immersive. It was so cool to wake up to all the noises of the jungle (birds, howlers, etc.) combined with the noises of the waves. Management is great as well. We had a hiccup on one of the tours and management was super professional in addressing it. As for the complaints in other reviews (roads, food, etc.) I don't agree with those reviewers. Yes, the gravel road was rough in some places, but first of all, Iguana Lodge presumably does not own the roads, and second, this is Costa Rica. We rarely encountered roads anywhere in Costa Rica that were any better, and some of the roads were much worse. The road to the resort that was $1000 more per night, for example, was much longer and much rougher than the road to Iguana. Iguana is close to Puerto Jimenez but far enough to feel like you're in the wild. Highly recommended!
