A family-run soda in Puerto Jiménez, about a block northeast of the bank, serving exactly what travelers hunting for a traditional local meal want: casados at fair prices, gallo pinto breakfasts with plantains, queso, natilla, and eggs, and fresh drinks like agua de mora and a pitcher of starfruit fresco. One table got homemade spicy sauce and extra noodles on the side; another calls the cook genuinely kind. Portions are filling and the atmosphere is family, not tourist. Bring colones in small bills for paying. Open 7 AM to 7 PM Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday; takeout available and good for groups and kids.

Very typical local restaurant/soda where you can eat Casados for a reasonable price. Family owned soda, the landlord/cook is very nice
Nice restaurant with very filling local fare. We had gallo pinto, plantains, queso, natilla, and sausage, with a refreshing glass of agua mora (berry water).
We had a great breakfast with gallo pinto, plantains, queso, and eggs. Bring colones in small bills to pay. Hope to eat here again. Traditional soda, which is what we were looking for.
