Practical notes from reviewers: tickets are sold in the waiting area shortly before departure and can sell out, so arrive well ahead of time; the timetable changes on weekends; and on the Golfito side the bus toward the Panama border leaves promptly, so move quickly if you have a connection. One traveler reported losing a waitlist seat to a latecomer, so build in a buffer for onward plans.

This review is about the Puerto Jimenez to Golfito ferry service. I arrived half an hour before departure but tickets were sold out - staff said they'd talk to the captain to see if there was space. I was first on the "waiting list" but the captain gave the spare seat to his friend who arrived much later, meaning I missed my transportation to Panama. Pretty corrupt.
Got picked up here for a fishing tour and it's small but gets the job done.
From here you can take the boat to Golfito; I found it a pleasant half-hour trip there, followed by a delicious breakfast at the Golfito marina (a half-hour walk), and the boat back. We even saw a shark and a few dolphins.
